Happy Birthday, Rachel*!!!!!!
Today is my birthday!!!
I haven't thought about anything else for days now, and decided to just kick it off on Wednesday, so that by the time the weekend's over, I will have had five full days of birthday extravaganza!!
Strangely, most of Wednesday's festivities were blogcentric. Seeing bloggers for real is cool, because you get to know things they don't write, so you feel like you know a secret or something. I had lunch at Spain with Tommy Sticks (enviably perfect, poreless skin), and then I had dinner at Bellabrava with James (knows a sexy saltwater trick), Jenny (likes the sexy saltwater trick), and Mark (doesn't care about getting shaving cream in his ears). After dinner, we accidentally ate up all the party favors and went to Cafe Alma with the 'Belt (who actually has chops, too).
At around seven in the morning, we went to work. Or at least somebody did. I smoked a lot of weed in the truck, and had little daydreams imagining all the coworkers going home to twelve packs of Bud Light and TV sets, but in a very contented, restful way. The sky kept doing beautiful things with light and clouds. Everywhere we went, the homes looked like gorgeous, tenderly loved dollhouses. The landscaping was vibrant and lush. I have no idea where we were. We started off at a beer distributor's house, and at one point, one of the coworkers said, "You're kinda tingly, huh? You keep running your hands through your hair." The coworkers were all very charming and sharp-witted and fun to talk to. I think everyone smiled all morning.
We went to Chili's for lunch, but it was f*cktarded, so we skipped it, and went to Red Mesa for dinner instead, which was delicious, and then we did a little present shopping, and then we passed out like two-year-olds after a curious catharsis in a Pinellas County parking lot and much mooning babbling about houses and pools and steak for dinner and babies and Ethan Allen furniture and gratuitous sexual activity, hammocks, front yards, eternal love and other birthday fun.
Today, Lil Sis is gonna get me a huge cake with my name on it. My dad sent me a sweet little check. My mom bought me a gold ankle bracelet. I am about to go to the mall.
I am so, so glad I was born! I feel like I have this glowing, flickering birthday candle inside me!
